New gfx card, and a really weird B2 issue

Hi guys! First of all, a big thanks to you all. I'm a first time poster, but a long time lurker, and you guys have helped a lot in the past. I'm currently stumped, and looking for some tips on how to proceed. Oh, and please bare with me, as I'm not super savvy when it comes to hardware :)

I recently bought a new gfx card (Asus geforece GTX 1050 TI). I carefully remove my old one, and replace it with the new one. I hook up my monitors (one HDMI and one DVI). When I boot up again I get the "B2" message on my screen. I look online for possible fixes and I try the following:

*I try other PCI slots, doesn't work
*I try just connecting a single monitor, doesn't work
*I try cycling through the input sources on my monitors, doesn't work

Then I try to put my old card back in, while still having my new card hooked up (I turn the pc off and all that of course), and now it works!

When I go into the device manager, it reads both cards. I update drivers through nvidia experience, and try to boot with just my new card, but that doesn't work. I updated my BIOS firmware, but I get the same result. I tried to set a gpu boot order in the bios, but I had some difficulties identifying which is which. I tried one of them at random, but the result was the same.

It seems no matter what I try the only thing that works is if my old card is at the same pci slot it's always been, and my new card is in a new pci slot. Any other combo gives me a "B2" on both monitors. When I run games, I can clearly see that the new card works perfectly.

So I guess my questions are the following: Any tips to make this work without having my old gfx card hooked up? Secondly, any issues or risks involved with just leaving my old gfx card in there?

I hope I was able to make this clear, and I apologize if I didn't. If you have any questions I will of course do my best to give a clear answer.

Thanks for reading :)

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to google what those three things are, and get back to you :)
