My motherboard only has one case fan connection so I wa sthinking of using a noctua NA-SYC1. i have read that this powers two fans on one header and lets the motherboard control the speed of the fans simultaneously. Does this mea n that performance will be effected like swill speed of the fans be decreased or will there be no issue?

Yes, that will work fine. The small issue that Zerk2012 mentions is that a 3-pin fan can NOT be controlled by a 4-pin mobo header that uses PWM Mode for controlling its fans. But if your existing fan already CAN be controlled, and the second fan is of the same type, then it will work.

If you have NOT hooked things up so you can tell whether control works, give us more info so we can advise. We need to know the exact maker and model number of your mobo, and the make and model number of each fan (or, at least, the number of wires and pins in the cable coming out of each fan).

Both the fans will work at the same speeds. There will be no performance drop, no issues at all. You can choose the exact speed you want depeding on the temprature of the case from the bios.
