So after A LOT of research I think I found my perfect headset! the Sennheiser pc350 SE has all the features that I wanted in a headset. because :
1- they're noise cancelling (I need that because I study a lot and my neighbors are annoying)
2- they come with a really good Mic
3- they're a Sennheiser! I always wanted to buy a Sennheiser headset.
4- they're just within my budget which I'd rather keep below $80

Unfortunately I found that they have an impedance of 150 ohms... and most people say that I need an amp for it or even a sound card. However I have the the Asus z170-a motherboard, which comes with a "Crystal Sound 3" and they're supposed to have an amplifier according to the ASUS official website, even though they didn't mention any more details about the amp.

So, does anyone know if I'd need to buy an amp or a DAC ? I'm not an audiophile and i'll be using them for noise cancelling, gaming, watching videos and a little bit of music.

As far as noisecancelling goes, I think you have been misinformed. They are closed, so the provide the dampening of sound by a physical barrier( for the lack of a better word.)
the motherboard might be able to drive the headset. Crystal Sound is only marketing words. It will run, but not maybe as loud and crisp as you might expect.

but that's what they advertise on their official website! they said it blocks outside noise and "isolates" users from surrounding noise.. would you care to explain more ?

the way nosie cancelling as far as the technology used, for exampe bose 25. is that a mic is situated on the outside of the headphones and delivers "counter-noise" to mask the sound of the outside.

The way sennheiser 350 blocks out sound is the same way as a "peltor hearing protector" works. It provides a physical barrier for your ear to which its hard for sound to reach.

oh now I get it. So we're talking Active vs Passive noise cancelling.. well active noise cancelling headphones are way too expensive for me :D so I'll stick with the passive ones.

but anyway, do you know how to find out the specs of the "Crystal sound 3" in the Asus z170-a ? I've been searching about that for hours with no result which is wierd...
