I have never overclocked before. I have an amd fx 6300 paired with a CM hyper 212x. The mobo is an msi 970 motherboard. What programs do i get to monitor my cpu and test it? What settings do i put in and how fast can i make my cpu?

Solution
OK. Since you've never OC'ed before, here's how I would start...
Enter BIOS and disable turbo mode. Increase the CPU clock multiplier one increment. Save, boot to Win, and stress test while watching temps. If good, repeat. Each increment should increase your clock speed.
Eventually, you will get an unstable result. When that happens, you can either back off and live with that, or start increasing the vcore. Instability is probably the result of not enough voltage. Go back into BIOS and find the vcore (sometimes called cpu voltage) section. Increase it in the smallest increment available and test again. You may have to increase it quite a bit to get stable again. Keep playing with the multi and the vcore to get your best OC...

I tried to reply yesterday, but apparently their upload server wasn't working. I could view posts, but couldn't respond.

Thanks for replying very quickly. How do i stress test the cpu? Is there certain program I should use like a benchmark?
When you say unstable, does that mean crashing?
What program can i use to monitor cpu temperature and whats the highest temperature i should allow?

Thanks
