Okay, so we have 2 phones in the house, 1 upstairs and 1 in my room. The wifi modem/router is in my parents room (upstairs) and I'm only getting one bar on my phone in my room. Actually, it's always connecting/disconnecting.

Is there some way i can utilise the phone line in my room to get a better signal. I also want to connect my pc to the internet, either wirelessly or via an ethernet cable.

If it makes any difference, the phone line runs from the telephone pole outside, then splits off, one line goes to my parents and one comes to my room.

Do you have DSL service? The DSL splitter may be in your parent's room, and your line is only carrying telephone traffic.
You might look into Powerline networking. You connect one port from the router in your parents' room to the first Powerline adapter, plug it in, then plug a second adapter into your room and cable that to your PC. This may not help your phone signal at all, but there'd be no need to use your phone as other than a phone while you have an internet-connected PC.

Yeah, our internet is adsl (1/2???) And they have a phone/internet splitter up there. Though i can connect their splitter and modem/router to my phone line and everything works down here (when they're not home).

I'll have to google powerline networking.

So i can't just add another splitter and modem/router to my phone line?

I guess my options are to buy better antennae for the modem/router upstairs or get some sort of wifi extender?

A WiFi extender may also work. You'd have to ask the DSL provider about another splitter and modem/router.
You could also obtain a wireless adapter for your PC. A $40 adapter will have much better antennas and radio than a cheap $15 adapter.
Other than what you do just on your own PC, it should go without saying that you should involve your parents in this from the beginning, and obtain their approval where needed. My wife and I are over 50, and my Mom's rules still apply at her apartment.

Hmmm looks like the powerline adapters are way to expensive in my country. I'll give my isp a call tomorrow and see what they suggest.

I have a usb wifi adapter for my pc (being fixed at the moment) that picks up the signal just fine. It's just that I'm being forced to use my mobile data instead of the wifi on my phone, whilst i sort out my pc issues.

And yup, got the all-clear from my folks to try and fix this, on the cheap, of course!!

Thanks for the help!

Okay, i'll see what they have available, though it's unlikely that they'll offer anything free of charge.

I'll look into a more powerful modem/router...seems that that'll be the easiest/cheapest solution.

Thanks for your input guys!
