PC Shuts down with no warning

My laptop shuts down with no warning. Also a weird problem.
Whenever my laptop shuts down with no warning, everything stops working. When i refresh my desktop, every single thing is deleted. And then secs ago, it shuts down.

I think it's from the harddrive or my motherboard. I don't know.
This usually happens when i leave my PC on for a long time, or when im gaming.
Any help? Thank you.

EDIT : Also everything comes back after the shutdown.

Laptop, is it overheating?

Usually a computer will only power off when there is an issue with power (bad PSU, bad battery) or if it's overheating. If you leave it on for a long period of time or if you're gaming on it and it powers off, to me it sounds like it's over heating.

If you haven't, you should clean out any vents/fans on the laptop. Best to use canned air. If you're not sure where to find some or how to use it, just look on google and you'll come across a lot of posts on how to use and where you can find some locally.

My battery is almost useless. It's capacity has ran out so i pretty much have to keep my laptop charging all the time.
And yes, it shuts down when its really overheated. Thanks.
