The mother board in my Compaq PC is going bad. I have a Dell PC with no hard drive (it was removed for recycling). Can I install the Vista hard drive from the Compaq into the Dell and have it work? I don"t have the original Vista operating system disc.

You can put it in but you will need to install the OS on the drive with your Dell disc. That will also wipe your drive of all data.
Both drives need to be SATA or IDE not sure how old your stuff is but most will be SATA.
