Hello everybody

I'm currently attempting to upgrade my previous processor (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+) into the newer processor AMD Phenom II X4 945 95W (labeled specifically HDX945WFK4DGM)

My current PC specs in quick overview are as follow:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit
HDD: Hitachi HDT725025VLA380 ATA
PSU: Antec 650 Watts
Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI (NOT the deluxe) *Support AMD Socket AM2+/AM2 CPU
BIOS version: 5001
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
RAM: 6 GB (DDR2)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750

How my problem occurred:

After I installed the AMD Phenom II X4 945, I turned on the PC but it was black screen with no display.
Therefore I shut down the PC and then cleared the CMOS.
I turned on the PC in which I was able to visibly see and enter the BIOS setup screen.
After exiting the BIOS setup screen, there was no display -- black screen only.

For now I have reinstalled where I'm currently using the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ at the time of this posting.

Few questions I would like to asks:
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there an incompatibility error?
Can this issue be resolved?
Should I configure/switch the SATA setting in the BIOS Setup?

Here are the link where supposedly the motherboard supports the intended CPU:
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M2NSLI/HelpDesk_CPU/

Further specific details of my PC info pulled up using software CPU-Z and the DxDiag:

DxDiag: http://www.mediafire.com/file/9eyv0ys7ebccks7/DxDiag.txt

Please share your experience and help me understand what's going on, thank you so much in advance guys!

Yes I can enter the BIOS (only after clearing CMOS until of course we can get this processor working properly)

The BIOS Version is 5001 which I downloaded from the Asus main website because it says that version specifically supports it

I actually did not check my boot priority yet

But once I actually take a look at the boot priority, what should I make sure it sets to? I have no idea besides from prioritizing HDD first? o.o

I reinstalled the AMD Phenom II X4 945 CPU and cleared the CMOS.
I entered the BIOS setup and noticed there was 4 priorities:

1st: Removable
2nd: HDD
3rd: CD-ROM
4th: Disabled

After seeing this, I changed the 1st Priority into HDD instead.

I saved then exit the BIOS setup.

Unfortunately afterward the screen becomes black with no display.

The only way to get back to the BIOS setup is by clearing CMOS from there.

I did trials and errors changing different priorities specifically only in the "Boot Priority" setting but still end up with black screen no display upon saving and exiting BIOS setup.

Help please T.T

I turn on the PC -- pressed F8 to enter the boot 'priority" options, and then made my way successfully into the Advanced Boot options after continuing to tap F8 repeatedly which then brough me to where I was able to select choices such as Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc

At the time of this posting I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking

I also notice that the BIOS does indeed recognizes the AMD Phenom II X4 945 CPU

What should we do next now that we know windows can be loaded? o.o

I opened the System Configuration -- > Select Services tab

I check the box "Hide all Microsoft services" ---> and then I saw all the non-Microsoft services --> I deselected all of them and then clicked on "Apply" ---> then hit " Ok "

The next prompt asked to Restart or Exit without restart

I hit Restart

As the PC turns back on again --- the black screen no display remains :(

Help please !

If I do a clean install of windows -- that means my current BIOS 5001 version will be downgraded/reverted back its previous version? If so, then having the AMD Phenom II X4 945 CPU still remaining inside the PC during the clean install of windows might cause another error because the older BIOS wouldn't be able to recognize/support the CPU thus repeating the same cycle of unable to load windows normally, correct?

Or do the BIOS version remains unchanged at the current 5001 version regardless of clean install of windows? o.o

The bios is on your motherboard. You'll be installing windows onto your hard drive and will not effect your bios revision. That questions concerns me because it appears to me that you know less about computers and how to do a clean install. Is there someone you can find that is knowledgeable with computers? This way you can be helped in backing up your data and reinstalling windows.
