I will be starting University in September and need to know what sort of a system would be suitable for such courses, component wise? Do I need a stronger GPU or CPU to sufficiently run the programs, do I need a lot of RAM? Would 16GB be enough?

Thanks.

It will probably depend on what the software you are using requires. I know a little about building machines for rendering in CAD but not anything specific with game design. If you are able to find out what software you are using then just google "(software name) system requirements" and you should be able to find out what the minimum requirements are and hopefully what the recommended requirements are as well. Always try to go with the recommended or higher so that when the software has an update you should still be in good shape. Sorry this isn't the best answer, but you need to find a little more specific info before I can help any further.
