So, I received a 980 Ti back from an RMA and this thing is total crap. Right out of the box it is being throttled according to GPU-Z with the reason being the Vrel (Reliability voltage). I'm not even able to overclock this thing by a measly 10mhz...

GPU-Z states that my core clock is 1240.3mhz under full load.

My 980 Ti that I sent them was able to do +290mhz on the core clock....

I spoke to an EVGA tech and an upper tier rep and they both said that since I'm getting the advertised specs there's nothing they can do. If I bought this card in the store I'd be returning this crap in an instant. I've always bought EVGA, and will never buy EVGA again (That isn't a false or empty claim).

So, is there anything that I can do to fix this or am I better off selling it?

ya looks like evga may of put a classified bios in it

[06G-P4-4991-KR ]

•Base Clock: 1000 MHZ
•Boost Clock: 1076 MHz

so at 1240 boost your well over evga guaranteed stock on that card ??

what is funny is why that card seems not to be listed here ??

maybe one of those evga things like guys buying that 980ti classy ''REF'' and only getting poor reference clocks with it at best [not a true classy ]

OK, so this is what happened:

You bought the card
You overclocked the card beyond advertised specifications (+290mhz)
The card broke
You RMAed the card
EVGA repaired the card and sent it back
You installed the card and it's working to specifications.
You tried to overclock the card and found you cannot overclock the card.

I'd say you were lucky they fixed the card at all. Keep and use the card. Take your lumps as consider it a lesson learned.

Unfortunately, the ability to overclock is never guaranteed, AND SHOULD NOT BE COUNTED ON. Therefore the EVGA reps were right, as long as the card meets advertised specs, there is nothing to do as the card is working as designed. You are having unrealistic expectations in this instance.

EVGA replaced the first card you broke by overclocking. Good luck getting that level of support from any other manufacturers. EVGA's warranty even covers aftermarket coolers and thermal paste.
