So my Bios says my i5 4590 is not compatible with turbo boost and when I run the Intel stress test my processor does not go to its full 3.7 ghz boost clock it just stays at 3.3, am I doing something wrong? it is enabled but it seems like its just not working.

Solution
sure don't look right even yopr min is stuck at 3.5 ??? at idle it should drop way down to a low power state [look at mine at min and current when at idle and not under any load]

I guess you could try to clear cmos and with that reset the motherboards bios bact to default to see if a setting got changed by mistake

with that cpu used you also need to be sure your bios is 3.6 or newer

- Support Haswell-Refresh series Processors.

Note
You must use one of the following methods to update this BIOS.
- Use MFlash to update "BIOS + ME"
- Use MSI LiveUpdate

Core i5 Haswell Refresh i5-4590 100 3.3 1M 6M C0 84 HD Graphics 4600 1150MHz...
wonder if it turned off / disabled in the bios ??

what motherboard do you have to go check its manual on that ??

then whats the temps ? is the cpu getting so hot it throttles all the way back to protect it ??

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/283050-i5-4590-not-turbo-boosting/

is this something new or all you ever got from it ?? [bad chip , bad voltages , bad motherboard , miss set /goofed or bad bios settings , incorrect bios for the cpu used this is a haswell refresh and like on a z87 needs a supporting bios ]

like they said above

Max Turbo Frequency 3.70 GHz

I like hwinfo64 that gives max and min readings

blue show max boost from my chip

I double checked the bois and its still enabled.

My motherboard is a msi b85m-g43.

Under full load on all cores my cpu only got to 58c

I haven't noticed it untill now but I am confused why my bios allows
me to enable it when it says its not supported but it is supported lol

I get this on hwinfo64

I do know if you flash you need to follow the footnote instructions for using a refresh chip asus is the same and guys run in to issue as well

cause it almost sounds like you may not have the correct bios flashed for use of haswell refresh cpu's ?????

Thank you for your help!! I updated the bios and this is what I got after
de4960479b.png

looks better and now seems to get to full boost

in windows under power options do you have that set to performance ? if so that will keep your cpu running at full full time and then not allow it to drop to a idle state see how my min. from my screen shot is like 799.7 then as the cpu get utilized ti then boosts to full speed as needed ..

I prefer ''balanced'' setting no point running things up when there not in use and keeping thing hot [opinion]
