Will Ryzen have 4K support for Netflix streaming or will Intel have a monopoly on what seems to be an Kaby Lake ONLY option... How much did Intel pay for those rights?

Hoping Ryzen will be allowed to offer 4K streaming in Netflix.. I was reading about this new 5.25" bay BD (bludrive) that plays 4K but you guessed it ... KABY LAKE SUPPORT ONLY.. just how different is Kaby from previous gen?

It's not that there is anything groundbreaking in Kaby Lake, it's that it supports AACS 2.0 and Intel Software Guard Extensions. The DRM is the problem, and we may not hear much until after Ryzen launches or only shortly before, about whether it will support the new "plaid" level DRM or not. Intel's SGX looks like it requires a call home to Intel servers to operate, so I too am curious about Ryzen support for this.

Looking forward to Ryzen , hoping to do a 4K HTPC / 1440p gamer when it does and the Netflix/4k streaming is part of the build..fingers crossed

Ryzen has far superior security built into it than anything Intel has up it's sleeve. It features SME (Secure Memory Encryption), SEV (Secure Encrypted Virtualization), and hardware based SHA powered by a security co-processor. Intel has nothing to counter any of these technologies for another generation or two. The only real road block to Ultra HD Blu-ray support or 4k Netflix on the Ryzen platform is going to be which technology gets used for the DRM.

Can't wait to put Ryzen based systems together myself.

Pioneer looks to be introducing their 4k Blu-ray drives at $200 and $300, so as much as I would like to get the last few pieces for 4k Ultra HD via PC, the clowns involved seem to be killing the format before it gets a good foot hold in the market. At least the drives will ship with 4k movie playback software.
