Hi!

I'm pretty new to computer building. some days ago I ordered components to build a PC.
I ordered the following components of interest for my problem:
Moderboard: Asus Z170-a
CPU: i7 7700k
RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) / 2666MHz / DDR4 / CL16 / CMK16GX4M2A2666C16
PSU: Corsair RMx Series RM650x 650Watt 80 PLUS Gold

I also have the Dell UltraSharp ( U2515H 25" 16:9 2560 x 1440 AH-IPS )
and a GPU (Gigabyte GeForce GT 740 OC 2GB) but the problem is probably not with there.

So to my problem: I can not boot the computer properly so that I get video output on screen and entering bios. The screen does not get anything from computer (tried everything, HDMI, DP etc) and it just entering "power save mode".
On the moderboard:
When I turn the power on, the CPU led lights red for roughly half a second, and instantly after that, CPU led turn off and instead the DRAM LED light up red for about 4-5 seconds and then turns off. No other LEDs after that, except for the white on the other side of MB. The CPU-fan work fine and continuing so even after the red LED turns off.

After hours of error searching and "Googeling", almost throwing my computer out from the window, I come down to that its maybe has something to do with the compability of BIOS between motherboard and the "brand new" i7 7700k processor? Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone has similar experiences? Do I need to update this, and if so, how? Maybe it is something completely different. Anyone knowing what the problem can be having those components together?

Of course I have tried to boot with dirrefent RAM-slot permutations and also tried with completely other RAMs, with and without GPU and it's always the same problem.

Yep, need to update BIOS.

Kaby Lake CPU's are only compatible with B250, H270 and Z270 out of the box. H110, B150, H170 and Z170 need to be updated using a Skylake CPU.

It is compatible, but you may need to update your BIOS. Check your motherboard manual for instructions how to update the BIOS. ASUS motherboards are supposedly easy to update. This would be the very least you need to do to get started.

Nah, I thought you had the MSI Z170-A PRO. You're lucky with an Asus Z170-A. Read about how to flash your BIOS using Asus' USB BIOS Flasback feature which you don't need a Skylake CPU for:

Well, be careful with using the BIOS Flashback function. I bought a MSI Z170 Gaming M5 board and had the same problem as yours. One has to update its BIOS to recognize the new CPU and be able to boot. The mobo had a button on the board that you were supposed to use to update BIOS without having to enter the BIOS. I did it and it bricked the board. Some store/service center has a special program to fix this or they do the upgrade for you.

BIOSNoob, I had the same problem. I purchased the Z170 MSI M7 gaming Mobo and this particular issue gave me hell. I cleared the CMOS, I even flashed my Mobo, which allowed me to boot into the BIOS, but gave me issues with RAM performance (Vengeance 3000 Slot 1/ Dual channeling the 2/4 slot with Vengeance 2666Ghz). As someone already mentioned, getting a Z270 board is great for out of the box compatibility (I think the overall functionality of the processor just works better in my opinion). And if you decide to pick up a Z270 MOBO, I highly recommend the Aorus Z270X Gaming 5 or Aorus Z270X Gaming 7. Very smooth motherboard, and it really allows you to maximize the 7700Ks performance.
