Yesterday i installed my first m.2 ssd and installed windows on it and all the updates went fine and i used it for a whoole day even turning it off and on a few times without a hitch. Today i turn it on and the computer goes straight into bios and the m.2 drive is undetected, i fiddled around in the bios trying to find out why it wouldnt be detecting it then decided to boot my windows usb drive and repair the boot sector hoping that might fix it but every time i turned the pc off and on it would go straight back into bios only detecting my 2tb sata sshd and the disk drive but no m.2.

I then unplugged the power and put it back in and then turned the pc on and it booted windows from my m.2 drive no problem. What on earth is wrong????

My specs in case it helps.
asus z97-p motherboard
i5 4460
8gb ddr3 ram
2tb SSHD
Its a 128gb micron m550 m.2
Windows 10 x64

By the sound of it all the m.2 drive may have failed.

Especially since it originally worked and then stopped working.

Did the drive come with any diagnostic software? If so try running that to see what can be found.

Do you have another computer that you could use to test the m.2?

Contact the seller and report the problem. See if you can obtain a replacement drive.

Question: "put it back in" - meaning the power plug or the m.2? I think the former...

However, either way, I would suspect the physical connection/fit of the m.2 ssd.

May loosen up with time/use and connectivity is lost.

Check that the m.2 is fully and firmly seated.

Overall, there does seem to be issues with connectivity and booting.

Thanks for the reply.

Meaning i took the plug out and then put the plug back in, ill try taking the m.2 drive out and reseating it and hope that this solves any future issues.
