I own a Blue Snowball Ice USB Mic and have done for 4+ years. This mic has been great and has shown no problems until this point.
I recently upgraded my CPU to a i5 6600k and had to get a new mobo too (Gigabyte H170-HD3). I also installed Windows 10 on a new SSD so everything is fresh (including a 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance kit). I've been suffering a problem since upgrading where I'll be talking on discord and when I open a game my mic stops picking up any audio and I have to leave and rejoin the voice channel I was in. I have also found that OBS Studio does not get any sound whatsoever from my microphone.
Using my mic in game seems to work fine as I have not witnessed any problems with it there. I have tried switching the port that my mic is plugged into (different mobo port, usb hub, front of case) but this hasn't seemed to have fixed anything. I have searched for drivers for my mobo that could be related to audio but I haven't found anything there either. I have also unticked the option that gives applications exclusive use of my mic but that hasn't fixed anything. The last thing I tried was uninstalling the mic drivers in windows, unplugging the mic then restarting my computer then plugging the mic back in so windows installs the necessary drivers again. There are no official drivers for my mic that I need, it's simply plug in and you're set.
If anyone has any ideas then please detail them here. I'm assuming it's something to do with applications that use the mic preventing other programs from using them.
Thanks.
