i7 2600
8gb
DH67cl
500 GB HDD
GTX 980
500 w OCZ

GPU temp was around 38, i didnt manage to download soft to check CPU temp with. PSU is recent (2 YEARS). HDD is old mb even 8 years and is making strange noises. In last 12 hours it shut down and start up like 2 times. Now it happens every few minutes. It did the same even in safe mode and while attempting to reset bios settings. And now after windows logo it started checking for consistency of HDD but cant get it done cuz of constant restarting. I even tried system restore ( it shut down at the very start thank god for that cuz i googled what would happened if it did later on). I realize that 500W is cutting it close but was working since august no problem.

So i wanna ask u guys if u agree with me that i should be getting new HDD. I already found one WD Blue 1 Tb ( SATA 3). And one more question does sata cables work for all sata ? i mean sata 1,sata2,sata 3? Or should i be getting new cable also? Or does it come with HDD? sorry for stupid questions

Edit: I mean the noises were there for ever a year but now its really strange noise mixed in there)
Edit2: I forgot that i managed to check event log before and it said critical event. ID 41 - kernel power or something(unfortunately i cant make screenshots of details now)
Edit3: just now i tried starting it up. consistency test ran thru and i managed to log in into profile but then it shut down and started up again. Mb its not HDD after all?

Hi there DiSiEi,

As the HDD is making some strange noises, then you will need to replace it.

You will not need to get different SATA cables. They are the same.

One thing you can try is to get the HDD out of the system, attach it as a secondary one to another computer and test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

The results should show us what is wrong with the drive.

Cheers,

Hello thanks for answer, ive been googling for few hours now and i found out that even even CPU overheating and PSU cab cautse these issues. New PSU and HDD should come this evening illl try it out then. I have no 2nd desktop pc to try it on. If its overheating CPU and all i had to do was buy some thermal paste im gonna be furious.

I moved realtemp onto usb and managed to start pc. While idle just checking the temp of CPU topped 42 on one of the cores but most of the time it was around 30. It remained around 30 even at the moment Pc shut down.

GPU is relatively new so i hope its either PSU or HDD.

If some1 could confirm that its nto mobo that causes the problems i would be grateful. I already googled but i didnt find any steps to verify.
