HI there...

I'm trying to decide between:

Asus A555LF - laptop with a Nvidia Geforce 930M GPU, i3 5010U 2.1Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD 5400rpm, 1366x768 &

Asus 540LJ - with Nvidia Geforce 920M, i3 5005U, 2.0 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD 5400rpm, 1920x1080.

Would it help if I increased the RAM in the 540LJ (it has better screen resolution) by 4 GB and/OR changed the HDD to a 246 GB SSD?

Would it bring the quality of the system with the 920M at par with the 930M?

I have looked at other options out there and these are the lowest end systems capable of 'some' gaming.

Thank you.

rule of thumb for nvidia: anything under 5 (550- 650- 750- 950) is really limited for gaming.
Depending on the games you want to play.
Forget any recent fps with these cards mention above.
Normally a descent gaming laptop is about 1000$ and will have a descent video card (at least a 945 gpu)

where are you purchasing from? country of origin? also what are you willing to spend dollar wise?? Why buy a laptop then upgrade when you can probably find one that fits your needs right out of the box.

Thanks all. To answer:

I'm buying this in India as this is where I am currently.

I've checked the market and sites and the other other options are way too costly.

My budget is USD 450-550.

Also, I've just found a good deal for the Acer Aspire E5-572G-525V. It comes with a 2.60 GHz Intel Core i5 4210M/4 GB RAM/1 TB HDD/15.6 screen FHD/ and a 2 GB NVIDIA Geforce 940M GPU. The price is USD 470.

How do you think this compares to the Asus 555LF and 540LJ above which are USD 543 and USD 484 resptly.

The Asus systems above come with the 930M 2 GB GPU but have a 5th gen CPU- i3 5010U.

So, which is better?
