Alright, hey guys !
Recently i've been struggling with my pc so i've decided to build a new one. My budget is limited so i can only buy a CPU with mobo/ram or a GPU and i dont know which would benefit me the most until i replace both.
This is what i'm currently running:

I5 2500(non k :( )
r9 280x RoyalQueen
8gb ddr3

Now i was thinking about getting the Gigabyte gaming extreme edition 1070 for the GPU or an i5 6600k with an asus motherboard and ddr4 ram combo. So i know that there will be a bottleneck in both cases but what would be better for me and easier to bare with untill i upgrade everything else.

I hope someone has the time to help me and give me some suggestions!

Have a nice day!

the cpu and gpu are pretty close to being same "tech" age, so yeah performance is not gonna be great. I think missed that it was a 280x, I remember seeing 380x for your gpu. The 280x is actually pretty much an older GPU, which is like a re-branded 7970 that's why I say it's around the same tech age as your CPU

Look at it this way... you've had an i5-2500 for years and only now having the need to upgrade. You could go with some cheaper versions of system builds which will still last you around 3+ years.

i5-7500 (or 6500 if you want to reuse win7 or something, unless you have win10 already)
16gb ram (2x8gb) 80-110$
budget motherboard <100$
GPU? you could upgrade to a budget 1070 (i have been seeing quite a few good deals) or find a...

you best performance upgrade would be a new CPU.

so, either i5-6500/6600k + mobo + ram

or

i5-7500/7600k +mobo + ram + win10 (older windows not "supported", some people have made their way around it, but not guaranteed)

Yes, i can see this as a viable purchase but i'm not sure that my gpu would be able to keep up still since im getting 100%usage in some games already like overwatch and farcry even though im still hitting above 60fps. And yes im running on win 10 so that wouldnt be an issue.

I don't think you would have issues with your GPU. as far as usage, I would think it's your CPU that is lacking rather than GPU. There could be other issues concerning GPU. the 280x mustve been an upgrade a while after you purchased the 2500. did you possibly not uninstall old GPU drivers properly? are your temps good on GPU?

Actually ive had the gpu longer since i just got the cpu/mobo as a replacement for my old phenom x2 965 ocedd to 4.1ghz and yes the drivers are up to date and also i've changed the thermal paste on the gpu recently so it maxes at 75c under full load. But i feel like the gpu has taken a massive hit in the performance over the years even overclocked i cant max out far cry 3 for example it just simply isnt smooth. And in most games im gettin 100% gpu usage.

maybe reuse some parts from your old rig to help cut costs and sell off the rest of your "parts"

of course, you could just get the CPU+MOBO+RAM first and then wait for a deal on a GPU (but they have pretty much steadied out in price)

as far as your current system performance. from what I understand you keep it clean of dust, so that's good. If you do not have, you should scan for viruses/malware (just to remove any other variants in your system performance), Make sure you have good airflow (or if making new rig, plan for it) because it could help quite a bit with the temps of components and will reduce any thermal throttling that those components may be doing

Hmm yea that looks like a decent build that would play games on high settins and last for a couple of years but i think the "k" cpu might be worth it i feel like an overclocked chip lasts you abit longer of course. I'll look into it thanks unfortunatelyi can't use sites like newegg and amazon since im not from the us and the prices are much higher.

ah ok, well, PCpart picker does cover other countries, you should check if yours is on the list.

Yes the K CPUs do last longer, but it's more of a "last battle" lol. i've got the i5-3570k. only this year I overclocked it cuz it was getting a little sluggish... but I don't generally play AAA titles, because I don't have time anymore, so in a way i dont have issues >.> . New systems have auto OC ;) which will give you a moderate overclock through your motherboard's presets lets say, makes things easier, or you could do the full oc yourself
