Hello everyone,

I have been wanted to find an answer and solution from Google about my External Hard-drive issue. It has been happening the past few year and so and I had found no answers to help me.

Let me explain what is happening to my hard-drive. Every time I play a game in my computer, the games works normal without any freezes. However, when I play a game in my external Hard-drive (Even the very old games) I get random short second game freezes. I can still play the game in my Hard-drive, but it is just I freeze for a short time and it gets really annoying when this has been happening the past year and so.

I had try defragment before, but that did not fix the issue I had.

I hope someone can help me explain my issue.

Thanks,

Will this work with the external harddrive or just my computer?

Hello again, I had try this solution you had advice me and everything is just pass.

I did not encounter any errors from these two software, but I still get a short freeze in my External Harddrive games still. So basically, this solution did not solve my problem sadly.

I am using USB 3.0 in my External Harddrive.

I do have a DriverBooster software that updates my driver but what do you suggest of another way to update my external harddrive driver version?

Hello kyle,

As You are using 2 Hard disk drive - one is your internal HDD Which is primary and your External HDD is your secondary Hard disk, there might be some bad sectors on your external hard disk so I Suggest you to perform following tasks,

1. RUN COMMAND PROMPT AS ADMINISTRATOR AND TYPE ''CHKDSK.EXE (TYPE DRIVE LETTER.- FOR Ex; E/ F/ D) '' - Make sure you have connected your external hdd to your pc before you perform this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHKDSK

2. RUN COMMAND PROMPT AS ADMINISTRATOR AND TYPE FOLLOWING COMMANDS,
diskpart
list disk
select disk # (where # is the number of the external drive)
clean
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs quick
active
assign
exit

NOTE; - THIS WILL REMOVE EVERYTHING ON YOUR EXTERNAL HDD, INCLUDING ANY BAD SECTORS

AND BE CAREULL AND BE DOUBE SURE WHILE SELECTING THE DISK.....

Am sure this will resolve your query..

IF YOU GET ANY ERROR MESSAGE PLEASE TAKE A SCREEN SHOT AND REPLY ME, AM REALLY INTERESTED IN SOLVING THIS....

THANKS
ASH

Hello there,

Excuse me for the late reply as I have been really busy the past few weeks.

So this would reset everything in my external harddrive then?

If so, I am not willing to take the risk since most of my savings and information are stored in the external hard-drive.

Additional note to add that this 3 second freezing issue when I play Steam Games, had happen when I had bought it brand new.

Thank you
