I recently bought an 8GB RAM stick and tried putting it into the mobo, but it didn't boot. Didn't go in depth with the specifications myself to figure out the issue, but I'd like some other people's advice. It was supposed to work according to the blokes at MSY but it didn't... Thanks guys

These are the specs for the Motherboard and the RAM:

Solution
Motherboard manual : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/271388/Gigabyte-Ga-Ep45-Ud3lr.html

specifications on Page 10 define your Ram should be:
4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1366/1066/800/667 MHz memory modules

the ram you bought is DDR3 and is not compatible with DDR2 motherboard

Please note you need to FIND NON ECC NON BUFFERED Ram
Also important INTEL or AMD or LOW DENSITY DDR2 RAM will not work on your system

you truly need to start looking on this page for the various model numbers supported of ram for your system
