New GPU in slightly older pc

Hi
I want to upgrade my older pc with a new GPU and new ram. But I don't know if the processor is holding it back. These are the specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz
4GB DDR
500GB SATA HDD
AMD Radeon HD 5450
Case Cooler master
Windows 10 Pro

Can I use this CPU or buy a new CPU?

Your RAM is DDR1 or 2 or even 3 (775 socket is compatible with all these 3, but I guess it is either 2 or 3)?
What GPU are you planning to buy?
And also, give us exact motherboard model so we can tell you maximum supported ammount of RAM.
