My computer was working fine and dandy with Ethernet, then one day it just stopped working. I tried the troubleshooter and it gives me the errors: "The default gateway is not available" and sometimes "The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". It doesn't even give the same ones every time, so I'm not sure whether those errors are even the right ones. I did install a WiFi card I had laying around so I could still use my computer, but it's really bad for online gaming. I've tried uninstalling the Ethernet adapter in device manager so it'd reinstall when I restart (and it did), but still the same issues. My motherboard is the Asus Z97-A with Intel's 1218-V gigabit lan, in case that helps any. I did install a Gtx 1070 the day before, but I don't think that should have screwed anything up. If any of you have solved this issue before, please let me know how.

After trying a diagnostic test under 'Link Speed' in the 1218-v's properties, I get this:
Connection Status : Failed
This test relies on a response from a
gateway, DNS, DHCP, or WINS server and
no such response was received. Any such
server for this connection may be unavailable
or misconfigured.

Maybe try to download the LAN drivers on the website?

I have tried to do this, and it did seem to at least give me more options like 'link speed' under the properties. Other than that it did not help, thanks for the reply though
