I have an FX 6300 oc'd to 3.9 megahertz but a bad graphics card the XFX R7 260x Double Dissipation. I want to upgrade my Graphics card because its not being able to run newer games well but If I do upgrade my gpu im afraid that my cpu will bottleneck lets say a gtx 1060 or a gtx 1080. Should I upgrade my cpu and mobo first or gpu. And if cpu first which one should I get and mobo?

A 1060 might not be too bad in the bottleneck department but you will easily bottleneck a 1080 with that CPU. As SR-71 stated Ryzen is coming up and that could shake things up a bit depending on how good it is.

Otherwise it also depends on if you are running Windows 7 or 10 and how far you push the GPU purchase.

If you bought a 1080 and wanted to stick with 7 then you would go with a i5-6600K or a i7-6700K with either a Z170 or Z270 based mobo for a higher end OC capable setup.

Windows 10 then it'd be a i5-7600K or a i7-7700K with a Z270 based mobo.

None of the current AMD offerings equal the Intel CPUs for gaming performance just like the 480 cannot compete by itself to a 1080. This would be one reason to wait and see how Ryzen...
