Ok so I built a new pc and now that I try and install my os the same things happen each time
1. Boots like normal and starts set-up process then screen goes black and drive activity button goes dead but the fans are still running and power indicator light remains on
2. According to the bios the gpu temp climbs to 95 degrees Fahrenheit at which point the screen goes black and drive light remains off. Thought it was overheating but I'm seeing much higher temps listed on here for pcs that actually stay running. Mine just kinda dies.

I've tried redoing the temp compound between the cooler and gpu but no change in temp ( the climb free slightly slower but still keeps going. All the cables inside are out of the way of the two case fans and the gpu fan. I've tried running it with the case closed and open on both sides multiple times each. I'm running an Asus mobo with a core 2 quad q9500 gpu with an aftermarket stock cooler and a blackbone custom case. The psi is an evga 80+ 430w psu and 8 gigs of crucial basic ram. Any help, ideas or solutions would be great.

I think you mean 95 degrees Celsius. Also buy a really good cpu cooler if you really want to run demanding games and keep temps cool. Also if your having problems with your GPU you can buy a gpu water block to keep your gpu temps low too. :)

Im running an ASUS P5G41C-M LX Motherboard with a core 2 quad qp9500 processor (with the air based fan cooler), a blackbone pc case with 2 internal fans, a generic dvd-rom optical drive, a seagate 7200 barracuda hard drive, and 8 gb of crucial ddr3 ram. Its all powered by an EVGA 430w psu.

Also since the gpu is running at an ok temp then how can we explain the consistent comatose state my computer goes into after 5 minutes of runtime? I'm confused because it's not like the whole system shuts down only half of it shuts down (if that makes any sense). What's most likely causing that?
P.s. it'll even do that if I keep running thru bios checking the temps it'll still blackscreen

in all honesty...its "new". the mobo was a refurb unit from china and the quad core i won off a bid on ebay. that being said everythings completely clean out of the box.
