I've come across a 290x for 150 on craigslist. seller said hes owned it about a year maybe a little more and it got around 10-15 hours of playtime a week. I've been wanting an rx 470 but the longer I wait the more I'm willing to settle for something cheaper. so I'm asking you, is it worth it to buy it used for 150 and will it last me a while? like a year or a year and a half?

LOL, that's two votes for that card?

I honestly don't see the point of the used card. With the rebate that 470 is cheaper than the used card. The 290X will use twice as much electricity so it really doesn't make sense to buy that card.

The problem with buying used AMD cards is many of them were using for crypto currency mining. This puts a near 100% load on the GPU for hours at a time and is known for killing fans, if not the card outright. I would buy a used GPU, but only from someone online who can prove they were careful with their stuff. Some random guy off the net isn't that. Add in that the 470 can be bought for less than $150 and I say pass on this "deal".
