My motherboard broke and I need to get a new one. Would it be worth it to upgrade from my Intel Core I5-4670 (an LGA 1150) to an Intel I5-7600 (an LGA 1151) while also getting a new motherboard or would it be better just to stick at the LGA 1150 motherboards?

This will depend on your budget as i5 7600 are not cheap. You could sell the i5 4670 to recoup some cash.
LGA1150 has been replaced with LGA 1151 on the Z170 and Z270 boards.
Performance wise, you are unlikely to see much gain from a new cpu in real world use, but your electricity bill might be a bit less.
Here is a compare between the i5 4670 vs i5 6600 (7600 not yet listed)
