I'm planning a build with the following configuration:
I7 6900k PC to 4.0 GHz
32 GB ddr4 ram
Gtx 1080 amp extreme
Might add a 1080ti in the future and keep both the cards
1tb SSD, 8 Tb HDD (2x 4tb)
4 120 mm fans
Noctua d15 cooler
Blu-ray writer
And I'll have a couple USB items plugged in and will be buying a motherboard with fast charging USB ports to charge my phone.
What wattage PSU should I be looking for?

Solution
not really, 2 GPUs is too much. And honestly don't see why would you need 2.
simple math:
CPU - heavily overclocked can do 200watt power draw.
GPU - ~230-250watt overclocked, but without power mod. 300watt with power mod
everything else - ~100 watt
so theoretically such system can use about 800watt. In reality, it will be lower. PSUs are better to be used up 70% of their capacity. so you are looking at expensive 1000watt models for dual GPU setup.
A good quality PSU (like Corsair RMx or EVGA SuperNova G2/G3/P2) of 500watt would be sufficient.
For more quiet system I'd go with 650 watt models (the PSU fan is not spinning until certain load, in case of Corsair RM650x it's about 260 watt).
for more warranty (10years vs 7) you can go with 750 watt models of the above mentioned. The price difference between 550 and 750 models is usually around 20$

Oh great! I thought 750 watt would be underpowered and was hence looking at 850 watt ones. I'm thinking of getting a gold rated seasonic, have seen outstanding reviews for it. So even after overclocking the CPU and the two GPUs (1080 and 1080ti) 750 watt should be sufficient right? Also forgot to mention that I'll be running heavy workload on it for at least 12 hours a day. I'm building the desktop for 3d rendering.
