For an example, I want to put an RX 480 in my PC and a 6950. I want to have an HDMI cable connecting my monitor to the 6950 and a Displayport cable connecting my RX 480 to the monitor at the same time.

Sometime, I want to run games on Ultra so I use the RX 480@60FPS+, however, sometime I also want to run the game on ULTRA at low FPS...so I want to switch to the 6950...but is this possible? Is it allowed technologically?

Can I have two different GPUs in my PC at the same time, hook them up to the same monitor, and just tell my PC to switch between them whenever I want? Or would this cause flickering issue or not allowed? ABSOLUTELY NO CROSSFIRE or CROSSFIRE BRIDGE IS USED.

I guess technically you could disable the card in the device manager and use the other one... Might run into driver issues though and windows would not be happy with you ever from reinstalling the drivers for one or the other over and over and over again. This would probably lead to instability in the short term and it might not be happy at all for extended periods of time.
