Can i upgrade?

Hi guys
i just found my very old pc in my garage and he running WIN XP so i would like to know if i can upgrade him to Win 7
the spec are
CPU:Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz mPGA478
Ram : Hynix 1GB DDR
that's the specs that CPU-Z gave me...
so will this PC run WIN 7 ??

Windows 7 PC Requiments :
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor*
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

It will work but after some time it may be a little bit laggy

Depends on your motherboard. Check to see if there are Windows 7 drivers for it (LAN, SATA, Chipset, Audio, etc...). Also check to see if 1GB is the max RAM it will accept or if you can upgrade that.

Sure it can.
Windows 7 can even run on Pentium III.
If you want to have Aero(transparency thing) you need a 8400GS, Geforce 210 or HD 5450. (Anything that is capable of Shader Model 2.0)
If you want to watch 720P video on youtube I recommend downloading this add-on : h264ify
It will offload the content to graphics card which result in low CPU usage during playback.
Also install Adblock Plus.

If he plans to play games on it (older titles) I recommend sticking with XP.
I just did some benchmark on my old Pentium 4 PC.
Games seems to run a lot smoother (around 4-8 FPS more in XP compared to 7)
If he just use the PC for web browsing and watching video it should be ok with Windows 7.
