Micron bug on Samsung memory GTX1070 ?!?!

I have recently bought a GTX 1070 PALIT JETSTREAM. I used to own a GTX970 by Zotac before. Well, I put the new gpu on my rig, clean installation of new NVIDIA drivers, checked the specs by GPU-Z (I won the lottery cause I got SAMSUNG MEMORY) and I started Unigine Heaven and Fire Strike Benchmarks succesfully. Next I decided to play THE WITCHER 3 all maxed out in 1080p and it run flawless...After this I wanted to try THE RISE OF THE TOMB RIDER in DX12 in order to check the full power of my new PALIT. Well, after few minutes I experienced picture freezing and white square artifacts on screen (exactly the same issue of the famous Micron Memory Bug) and the PC restarted by its own...I was kinda disappointed so I decided to update the GPU BIOS from Palit site even though it was adressed to Micron Memory...Restarted the PC again and I returned to TOMB RIDER, same stage...Well this time no more artifacts but PC restarted again after few minutes...that's sound so strange also considering I did not overclocked anything and the temp were good (cpu and gpu under 50 degrees)
MY QUESTION is...what is the real cause?

1) PSU (I own a CORSAIR CX 600M)
2) faulty GPU SAMSUNG MEMORY?
3) any other ideas?

my pc config.
MSI Gaming 5; i5 4690k ; RAM Corsair Vengeance 16 GB ;GTX 1070 Palit Jeststream ; Windows 10 64bit ; HDD+SSD (for windows10) ;NVIDIA DRIVERS 378.49

don't forget micron bought out elpeida memory that was used on cards and we know how guys felt about getting that on there cards

funny thing is the 10 series was used with micron first choice over Hynix and Samsung where like older NVidia cards were desgined with Samsung 2ed Hynix then filled in with elpeida as last ditch if you look back on that

seems like micron was first choice for this series or there cost played a factor so your back to that luck of the draw more then ever

like said out of the box not seeming to work correct RMA it and hope for a ''better '' card may not be the memory just a lemon overall if your 970 worked fine

It seems like you DIDN'T win the lottery. The shortage of Samsung memory lead 1070 manufacturers to use Micron and adjust their vBIOS accordingly, Palit may have released a vBIOS that strangely now does not work correctly with SAMSUNG memory.

Micron vs. Samsung isn't too big of a deal, Samsung is slightly superior as far as overclocking, EVERY 1080 has a Micron chip, but my Zotac AMP Extreme has a 800MHz Memory OC over every other 1080 and that's with a Micron chip.

But the problems lie in the manufacturer's vBIOS settings.

the restart issue was there just before my BIOS update, after it the only thing changed was that squares artifacts disappeared, but pc still restart running the rise of the tomb rider

If you're getting artifacts out of the box, it's defective, exchange it. Most of the Micron "issue" is the lack of overclocking. There was a month or two where the BIOS settings were out of alignment with the chip's spec, but that's long gone. Most people are just complaining that they can't get an 800Mhz OC on their memory, which is a complete waste with memory not being the bottleneck. Look at me, I got a 40% OC and gained 2% performance! yay!

I can get a stable 400mhz OC on my Micron memory, but I choose to underclock by 25%(-500mhz) because I only lose about 2% performance for a 25% reduction in power/heat of my memory. To give an idea of the "load" the memory is under. Even with the -500mhz, playing Overwatch with ultra graphics and Medium AA shows about 50% memory load at 120fps@1080p. And memory load seems to be quite stable regardless the performance. In general, there is a 3:1 GPU load to memory load. Forcus on OC'n your GPU.
