How do I fix a grinding GPU?

It grinds around at a certain speed, 55-70 and stop at any speed lower and higher than those numbers. Happens when I stress my GPU from video gaming or 3D rendering.

The sound came after I was done wiping dust off my GPU fan. Did I do something?

Please dont say I need to buy new one, I don't have money. Any home-style fixed I could do to sort such technical problem. :(

some company's like XFX will send you a new fan under warrantee or look over at e-bay for used pull out fans

just have to hunt and match up for your card I used fans that were not for a card like one from a old 6850 sapphire in to a 7850 powercolor

size was smaller and mounting holes did not match up but a small drop of ca glue fixed that

also try to remove your fan and then pull the sticker back and theres a hole with a plug [most times] pull out that plug and put a small drop of oil in it...

3 in 1 ,sewing mech oil , wd40 ect,,,,,,, any house hold lube oil or light machine oil should do the trick

by any chance is it threatening to my GPU life span?

try to oil it like I showed above and may be fine you may of pushed a speck of dust in to the bearing not a big deal in my opinion it would need to be one heck of a wad dust to throw it that bad off balance I got a card with one fan blade broke off and not doing that bad then I super glued it back on works fine for years

If i can't unfix this, would my GPU still last a year /w a grinding / scratching fan or would it die out in months cause of it? :(

as long as its cooling properly if nothing else you may find a old unused card with a good fan and scab it in ? I got a 7850 with a 6850 fan in it mounting hole did not line up / the same but I just used a drop of CA glue to hold it in to place .

with out being there for any hands on to see what you really got going on hard to say for sure . should be just 3 little screws holding the fan in just pop them out and flip fan over pull back the sticker and remove that plug thing and add a small drop of oil /lube

unless you physically damaged the fan my old case fand I got to lube about once a year or so or they get noisy

any light mech oil should do as like I listed above a drip can of 3 in 1 about the best all around use

https://www.3inone.com/products/multi-purpose/

just about any place sells something like it maybe your mom got sewing machine oil a round ??

The oil worked! No more grinding sound. Thank you so much! T.T Now I don't have to find work to buy a new GPU fan.

Though I just found there's another problem in which my GPU temps are abnormally higher by 10c during web browsing from 33c to 50c+ T^T and i need to re-apply thermal paste. Sigh.
