Should we still be using b or g network protocols on our Routers? What is the best way to set a Router up? 2.4ghz in B, G & N or Just N? 5ghz in AC or N & AC? I am confused to say the least. Is there any benefit to using all the Protocols still or is that just giving me interference on my Network? Do older devices NEED B or G or can they use N because N is supposed to be Backwards compatible? I have searched the net for hours trying to figure this out and have found nothing definitive so can anyone here with the Knowledge explain what is best way to setup your Router in the Year 2017? Thanks for any and all info

Solution
Unless you use older devices that can talk to only B or G, then n or ac is what you need.

If you have all reasonably new devices, , then disable the b & g.
