Securtiy issue on Windows 10 and Google

I have reason to believe that Windows 10 operating system and google search engine have some serious security issues against potential virus attacks. What happened was that I was trying to download some files off the internet, and as soon as I opened this file I realised that this file was nothing but a virus under a fake name because immediately Windows Defender was trying to remove it systematically. However, the removal of this malicious virus was obviously so unsuccessful to such an extent that eventually Window Defender was disabled by this malicious program, as a result these effects took place on my PC:
(1) A whole bunch of ad ware were installed on my PC by this malicious virus;
(2) Windows Defender, the program that was supposed to protect my PC, was helplessly disabled by this malicious virus and I could not get it back to work. These was a message that kept asking me to contact my security administrator when I was trying to enable Windows Defender. Furthermore, a system scan was initialised by this malicious program and I believe more ad ware and virus were installed on my PC as a result. However, I was able to track down this malicious virus and tried to uninstall it and I was able to track it back to their website to find out that it is a software company that promotes their so-called “one care to PC” software. They claim that their program can take care all of the security issues on any PC whether the users of these PCs want it, or even being acknowledged of it, OR NOT. Regrettably, I forgot to have a copy of the name of their website.
(3) Google search engine was also under attacked by this malicious virus as well. Google’s default search engine, which is google.com, apparently was out defaulted by this virus and the default search engine on Google browser was forcibly set as something called “Websearch” and it is under “feed.sonic-search.com – https://%66%65%65%64.%68%65%6c%70%65%72...” . I tried to reset my default search engine back to google.com, but I couldn’t do it because this malicious search engine, or bug, kept coming back systematically by itself, so that there would always be two additional tabs were made to open up on Google’s web browser by this “Websearch” software and this caused Google’s browser to crush eventually.

Fortunately, I backup my system and create restore point on a routine basis and I was able to restore my system to a previous point. However, this was such a serious issue regarding to security breach on Windows 10 and Google search engine. Please help me prevent it from happening again in the future. Thank you.

Solution
Backups:
You will need another drive or two.

I use Macrium Reflect, and have a full image of the C drive every night. And keep several images as time goes on.

1. Right after the OS is installed and running
2. After my basic load of applications
3. Then, a rolling series of full drive images. Keep for a week or two, deleting the oldest as it goes. This is unattended, on a schedule.
You also create a Rescue CD, to be used if you need to recover from some disaster. Major virus, dead drive, whatever.
The system is never more than 24 hours out of date.

Tested:
Having backups is one thing, but you must also test the disaster recovery procedure.

The best security system for your PC exists between your ears.

-Don't randomly click on things you are not sure of.
-No antivirus is 100% effective. None of them.
-All those 'System Restores', Registry Fixers, 'All in one security'...are often the malicious software themselves. At best, they only consume CPU cycles with unneeded crap. At worst, they take over your system, disabling other things.
-Have a good, tested backup scenario.

Y0U ARE THE BEST!!!

"Have a good, tested backup scenario" - Would you mind elaborate on this, please? - I am all yours to listen. Thanks.

Thank you very much. Could you elaborate more on this Rescue CD, please.

In the Macrium application (and most other similar ones).
It has the function to create a bootable DVD or USB.

If your main drive ever dies, you get a new one
Then boot from that Rescue thing you made, tell it which Image to use, and what the new drive is....Go

It applies that full disk image to the new drive. Poof....exactly as the system was at the moment you made that image, just on a new drive.

This is fantastic. I found you analysis and method fascinating. I admire your knowledge and experience so I would like to sincerely consider you as my “computer guru”, if you don’t mind. Therefore, I would like to ask you a few more questions regarding to this matter and thank you very much for that. This Macrium software is certainly a fascinating piece of software in hard drive cloning and imaging. I am just curious that:
(1) How do I effectively monitor these images as they are being created and is there a way to set up the time and frequency as they are being created? Like you have replied to me before that “You can monitor your cloning images on a daily routine basis”, and I would like to know how to do that, please?
(2) I am using a 7200 HDD now and I am going to upgrade it to a SSD soon. With the help of this fascinating software, Macrium, is it possible to just clone this system image from HDD to SSD by myself?
(3) I believe that there are two options that you can choose from in creating this rescue disk. One is from DVD and the other one is from USB drive. For the USB image method, is there a disk capacity limit that I should be aware of?
Thank you very much. I am looking forward to asking you more questions again.
