Is it worth upgrading to be used as an entry level gaming pc?

Hi guys, first post.

I'm thinking of upgrading an hp pc my step father bought from tiger direct in 2011/12 for a few hundred dollars.

Its an HP Compaq dc 5800, with 2 gb ram, Pentium duo-core E5200 @ 2.5ghz, Intel(R) Q33 Express Chipset Family 256 mb, 75 gb hard drive and windows 7 32 bit.

My budget for upgrading is cdn$300-400, would it be possible to upgrade it so it can play games like heroes and generals or battlefield 4 on low-medium settings with 40+ fps?

I'm not sure what graphics card to buy as I want to make sure this computer can handle it, and am not sure how much ram it can handle.

All recommendations and info would be greatly appreciated.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You would be happier and safer starting from scratch. 400 to 500 dollar gaming builds are not uncommon, and you will have a lot more freedom in parts you want. You can scrap parts like hard drives if you are really on a budget.
