I have an AMD FX 8150 eight core 3.60 ghz processor

Nvidea gtx 970 GPU

16g ram

Would upgrading this processor give me a noticeable change? I m not sure where this one stands anymore. I do not have any problems with it but some games (like black desert) I can t run smoothly on max settings. Is it more on my gpu?

I used to have an FX 8120. I upgraded to a Core i7 4770K and wow there's a huge difference in performance. MMO's like Black desert for example will run better on a better CPU.

The recommended minimum configuration is :

If you lower your graphical settings and your framerates do not improve, your CPU is at fault.

The FX-8150 is pretty weak by today's standards. I'd say that in most cases, it would fall below the $65 Pentium G4560, which is a dual core with hyperthreading. You could get a small upgrade by dropping in something like an FX-8350, but any major improvement will require you change to a motherboard with a new socket.
