Is it worth upgrading my GPU?

I currently have a R9 280X 3GB from Sapphire and it can run games fairly easily if I turn the settings down, However me being me, I like to run my games at ultra and get the most out of the game and to make it look fantastic (One of the reasons PC is better than console) However doing so I get lower FPS than desired. I was thinking of upgrading to a RX 480 8gb or 4gb but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Another thing is that I also have three 1920x1080 monitors(total resolution of 5760x1080, so I was thinking that 8GB of VRAM could benefit a lot to high resolution for certain games such as Dirt 3, Rally etc.
Obviously DX12 becoming more common these days in games and Triple AAA titles, I think a newer card could also benefit off that, and my GPU is from 2013 which is based off a chipset from late 2011

Here's a comparison between my GPU and the RX 480
