Best AM2+ Upgrade?

Hi there!

I'm running a NARRA5 mb and would like pro advice on the best performing cpu for it. I've added a GeForce GTX 960 and a power supply, the rest of the system is stock HP. Also, will I have to upgrade the BIOS? I've done a bit of research myself, but have come to multiple conclusions and just want a solid answer. Thanks in advance!

Ph II x4 960 has 95W tdp. x3 are actually x4 with one core disabled because of one core being bad. That would be good improvement over Athlon.

That's the board. I'm currently running the Athalon II x2. I have heard that some tri-cores are faster than the Phenom II quad? And being that my mb can only handle 95W chips, the one i was looking at became out of the question.

Not sure about BIOS, might have to update it, depends which one it has now. Heat sink has to be one for Phenom IIs Atlon ones are just to small, TDP is less than 60W. Phenom II's heat sinks come with 2 heat pipes. See if one comes with your sample, normally when new, they come with appropriate one.
Make sure you reset BIOS in between processor changes.
