ASUS B85M-G requires BIOS update for i5-4690?

I read that since i5-4690 is a Haswell refresh, that in order to use this processor with the ASUS B85M-G I just recently bought yesterday, that I need a non-haswell refreshed CPU from the LGA1150 line-up to flash and update the BIOS then I will be able to use the haswell refreshed i5-4690, if this is the case then should I just opt for the non-haswell refreshed lineups? Thanks!

Depends. If the motherboard stock has been properly rotated, it's very possible you have an up-to-date BIOS. Check the box to see if there is a BIOS version sticker somewhere on it. If you're at BIOS version 0904 or later, you're good to go. If you're not sure, you're not losing a lot by staying with an Intel Core I5-4670.

Update:

It has a "Windows 10 ready" sticker on it, which means it has been rotated right? I ordered 10 sets of PC's having the S-1150 Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2 as mobo last year and chose the i5-4460 as CPU seemed to have no issue at all

Update#2:
I brought it in the office and used our spare machines that has the i5-4460 in it, booted up and the BIOS version is indeed >0905, thanks man!

thought i was going to bring this back to them for them to flash it, i dont want to buy a "flashing cpu" just to use these haswell refresh options, i even shifted my attention to non-haswell-refreshed haswell cpu's good thing you cleared it up for me, thanks again man! :)
