Lacie 8Big RAID almost at a stop

Hi. I'm a newb and not very tech savvy (enough to be dangerous). I have been running 2 Lacie 8Big RAID units for my video business for the last 2 years or so. One os 48 T RAID 0 as my main production drive for speed and a RAID 5 (42T) backup both connected with Thunderbolt. A few months ago I started having problems with my backup drive getting very slow. Finally for a number of reasons I erased the drive completely and validated with Softraid (I had a lot of issues with Lacie's RAID Manager) which said everything was fine, no errors. I then started to recopy the files from my main drive. This has become impossible, the read and write speeds hardly register on a disk speed test. sometimes 2 or 3 MB/s. My main drive and other drives are all fine. I've taken the backup out of the daisy chain and connected it straight into my Mac Pro running OSX 10.11.6. It has also been slow mounting and unmounting. I'm running a new validation process now on Softraid which will take a few hours but if that comes back normal, where to next? This is keeping me up at night running a RAID 0 with no backup but 29 days to transfer 500 GB is not an option. Thanks

I would check to make sure you don't have a failing drive. On Mac i don't know of any free Smart tools.

if you have a windows machine, you can plug them in one at a time either directly if a PC or with a USB adapter on a PC/Laptop and run Crystal Disk Info on them and check the smart status (Must close the program and reopen with every drive)
