During a fresh build I was trying to get my Asus X99-A II mobo to see the Samsung NVMe SSD 960 EVO M.2 500GB drive.

I followed these instructions: ( from: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3268621/samsung-960-evo-detected-bios.html )

1 - Make sure you unplug all SATA and USB drives, the M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed.
2 - Go into the bios, under the boot tab there is an option for CSM, make sure it is disabled.
3 - Click on secure boot option below and make sure it is set to other OS, Not windows UEFI.
4 - Click on key management and clear secure boot keys.
5 - Insert a USB memory stick with a UEFI bootable iso of Windows 10 on it, USB3 is quicker but USB2 works also. A Windows DVD won’t work unless you’ve created your own UEFI Bootable DVD.
6 - Press F10 to save, exit and reboot.
7 - Windows will now start installing to your NVME drive as it has its own NVME driver built in, I don't think this would work with previous versions.

The problem is that now the systems now hangs with the message:

Please enter setup to recover BIOS setting.
When RAID configuration was built, ensure to set SATA Configuration to RIAD mode.
Press F1 to run SETUP.

F1 does nothing. I have jumped the CMOS reset as per the manual. Pulled the battery and done the other standard tricks. I have pulled the SSD out and pout it back. Pulled the SATA drives I had in there and restarted (pulled battery, jumped the CMOS rest again).

I know the kbd works because i can CTL-ALT-DEL to restart the box (it is Windows wireless kbd)

BIOS was flashed to latest.

I am out of thoughts on this one. More than a little frustrated that the BIOS settings can not be reset to default. Any help welcomed and appreciated.

I got this from Tom's "We've noticed that the thread you've posted on Tom's Hardware hasn't received any responses. Perhaps it's not clear or explicit enough, how about taking a look at it to see if you can make it better?"

Is there anything I can add for clarity?
