I'm reaching desperate levels.
I own an Adata HD710 hard drive that works perfectly normal on my MacBook Pro.
But I also own an Acer laptop, and it is almost impossible to use my hard drive here.
When I open an audio or video file from my hard drive it plays it for some seconds (sometimes minutes) but then it disconnects itself and connects itself immediately.
I feel like I've tried everything. The USB power settings from the Control Panel, uninstall and reinstall drivers, turning off the power settings from the Device Manager, erase it, change formats. Nothing works.
Please help! I really need to use this hard drive.

Hi there Jn_51,

I believe it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on the drive until you sort this out.

This sounds like a connection related issue, assuming you've updated your drivers and adjusted the power settings.

Have you tried all the USB ports of the laptop? I believe it may be a good idea to do so. Also, it would be nice to attach a different USB drive, so you can make sure there's nothing physically wrong with the port.
If you have a spare USB cable lying around, you can try that one as well. Have you tried the drive on a different Win machine?

Cheers,
