Hi, I have these two alternatives.
http://www.ttesports.com/Keyboard/201/POSEIDON_Z_RGB_Brown_Switch_Edition_/productPage.htm?a=a&g=ftr#.WJAkU9V96Uk

http://gskill.com/en/product/ripjaws-km570-mx--cherry-mx-red

Where I live, these two are available within my budget and they cost the same(~100$)
Gaming would be my first priority with typing being a close second.

Now Pros of g.skill KM570 MX for me:
1. Cherry MX Switches
2. Cherry MX Red which are supposedly better for FPS and fast-paced games though this is a very subjective opinion.

Cons:
1. No RGB or software customization.
2. Hardly any review online apart from guru3d.com

Pros of Thermaltake Poseidon Z RGB:
1. Basically from its feature sets like RGB lighting, keyboard customization by software, cable routing etc like a product of a higher-price category.
2. Has lots of reviews online - mostly positive - implying its a trending keyboard.
Cons:
1. Kailh switches (Again its subjectively inferior to Cherry)
2. Poseidon Z is not available on Kailh Red. Only Brown and Blue are available.

I am coming from a cheap membrane keyboard. So I've literally no experience typing on a mechanical one. Though I do have spent good 6/8 hours researching on various key types, brands etc.
Also just before publishing here I read that:
https://www.furiouspaul.com/articles/cherry-mx-keyboard-switches.html

It basically says Red/Black switches are worse for gaming compared to the Brown/Blue !! It's all gettting so confusing...

So which one would you prefer of the two and why?? Your opinion would be much appreciated.

Edit: G.Skill KM570 is also available on Cherry MX brown or black here. Didn't know that earlier. Informing you if that's of any help.

Most people like Brown switches for gaming, they have a faster response and shorter travel, and I think they are quieter as well.

I actually own both a G.Skill Brown mechanical and a Thermaltake cheaper membrane keyboard, build quality is good in both brands.

I'd go with brown switch, but that is pretty personal. They actually sell sample keys you can buy to try things like https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-keyboards-Switch-keyboard-Sampler/dp/B01G3BJOHO/ref=pd_lpo_147_tr_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8NATDACR1D9MWE0MHMFX There are some with more keys also, or find a store that has keyboards and try them.

I don't live in the US and also don't have a store nearby where I can try out different key types. I'd surely would, if I had.

Anyways I bought the G.Skill KM570 (MX Brown). It ultimately seemed like the better choice for its original Cherry MX switches though it lacks some of the bells and whistles of the Thermaltake Poseidon Z.

So what's the model of your G.Skill keyboard? And what's your experience about it?? Thanks.

It's my son's but I tried it for a bit, the KM780R RGB. It was about $100 on sale during Black Friday.

Only thing he did not like about it was the fact that he could not find custom profiles for the lighting like the Corsair products have since it was a less popular keyboard.
