Hi so i bought the audigy fx as my headphone jack stopped working on my on board audio (mb z77 extreme 4) I have the case front hd audio connected to the sound card but i can only get sound if i plug my headphones into the front audio port but not the back into the actual sound card itself.I have the on board audio disable and my nvidia sound disabled also.If someone could help me with this it would be great thanks ^^

Ya, that sounds right. You should get the same sound quality from the front case output on your headphones long as your system recognizes your audigy fx and you've configured your settings correctly. Does the sound quality on your headphones sound the same regardless which output you use? Depending on what kind of speaker setup you have, you may be able to use the rear and/or c/sub output to connect them, which would leave the front/headphones main line out free to use only with your headphones. Though, be aware, you might not get the full benefit of the 5.1 surround sound from your sound card on your headphones without a 3d sound usb adapter.

yes i already downloaded the latest driver and im on windows 10.

And so your system is recognizing the audigy fx then? Note that the headphone jack on the audigy would be the light green 3.5mm line out, if it's connected to your speaker setup, you may have to temporarily disconnect if you want to use your headphones directly from it.

Since the audigy fx is a 5.1 surround sound pcie sound card, it may be worth considering a 5.1 surround sound usb headphone adapter, eg the Kotion Each 2.0 (3D Virtual 7.1 Channel USB External Sound Card Adapter for PC Laptop Windows Mac OS Linux, Audio Adapter Cable, No drivers Needed) which goes for $10. There are many of these adapters, ranging from $3 -$15, some far upwards of that as well.

If your system doesn't recognize the audigy fx after downloading it's drivers for your OS, assuming there's nothing wrong with the pcie x1 slot you've plugged it into, it may mean your sound card is DOA.

Yeah it recognizes the audigy but the rear 3.5mm port in the soundcard only works when I disconnect the the hd audio case wire from the sound card and when its connected it only works from the front port on the case is this normal?can I not have the front and rear port working at the same time so I can choose what port I want to plug the headphones into?

Don't wanna bust anyone's bubble but stay away from OS 10. Please for you own sake, and sanity, and privacy.

Your opinion would be in the minority.

I had the same problem and here is what worked for me. I disconnected the front panel audio cable from the sound card and noticed that when I did, the sound from the back worked perfectly. So I realized that my audio cable for my front panel has both the AC '97 and AZALIA connectors as options. I had been using the AC '97 as that is what worked on my previous device. I switched to using the AZALIA connector on the Audigy FX and now the back panel and front panel both work fine. I hope this helps.
