Hey guys, i´m looking to move a Seagate HDD from an old PC from 2007 to my new main computer to use as a secondary drive, as I am in need of some extra space.
My question is now:

Can the HDD from the old PC, that has Windows Vista on it, give any complications when installed into my new PC (with Windows 10 on an SSD)?

Can I just install it, open up the files and simply delete the windows vista folders to free up the space and keep all the old pictures, music aso? Or do I have to format it completely?

I imagine theres stuff in the BIOS that decides what Drive with windows to boot from - but I figured id ask you guys to make sure :)

Any help is appreciated!

It will not give you any conflicts. But removing Vista from the old HDD is not as simple as deleting the Vista Folders. There are bits and pieces of the old OS scattered throughout. I would move the files you want to keep to the SSD temporarily, or if there is not enough space, to an external drive, then do a complete format on the old HDD. Then you can copy your files back to it.

Not sure youll see this but trying anyways. When plugging the old HDD into my new PC I will be able to access the files how exactly? Will it just pop up and ask if I want to access the files like when you put a USB memory stick in a computer or is it different? And I can simply drag the files I want to save to the SSD no problem?
Im just asking ahead of time before I get HDD so I dont run into any problems :p

Yes, you will see the old HDD as a drive "D", or "E" or whatever is the next unassigned drive letter. It will be just like a USB flash drive. You can drag and drop files to the SSD. Any programs (applications) on the old HDD should be reinstalled after you format it, because dragging and dropping programs may not work, but it will work fine with documents, mp3 files, photos, etc.
