Used to play all the LEGO games just fine on my old pc but not my new one. I play all other games just fine and on pretty much max settings.

My specs are as follows.
X99 Mobo
i75820K
GTX760 4GB in SLI
1 TB SSD

I play a lot of GTA 5, Need For Speed 2015. Played the new Resident Evil on high settings just fine.

But the lag on these LEGO games isn't making any sense to me.

Solution
Yeah as I said the Lego games are rather finicky. I think it's a game related issue as I've had problems in the past with Lego Star Wars the complete saga and that game is fairly old plus I'm using a 980ti. I would try messing with the setting in game to see what works best, but unfortunately I don't think this really has a fix unless the problem has been addressed by Lucas arts or someone has created a patch for it.

I've noticed that the lego games tend to be rather finicky, I highly doubt it's a PC related issue and more of a game related one. You could always try reinstalling the game or updating your GPU drivers but it may or may not fix the issue.

1) Reinstalling doesn't make sense as it's more than one game.

2) Which LEGO games. Some are more demanding than others. Harry Potter 5-8 is more demanding than HP 1-4. (I could play most of them at max, 1080p or 1440p at solid 60FPS on a GTX680).

3) Try disabling SLI if it's on for those games. (not sure if SLI is on by default or not)

4) What do you mean by lag exactly? (low FPS, big stutters, micro-stutters?)

5) All my games were smooth on my GTX680 + i7-3770K (dropped settings on HP 5-7 but it was still smooth after that). My games are still fine after upgrading to a GTX1080 and using the latest video drivers.

I've got most of the Lego games. Lego Batman, a couple Marvel, Harry Potter, LOTR, a couple Star Wars.

I've already done all the basics. Reinstalling games etc. GPU drivers are up to date and I have tried disabling SLI. Windows is also currently up to date. I have windows 10.

And the lag is more like a stutter. Smooth for 3 seconds and then a stutter. Smooth and then a stutter. It happens about every 3 seconds.

It happens on ALL lego games.

Frustrating because I used to play some of these Lego games fine on a old prehistoric graphics card. LOL

You probably don't want to assign a BEST ANSWER if your problem isn't solved.

I guess Lego games are finicky only for some configurations. I was running a GTX680 2GB + i7-3770K (so 2GB of VRAM) with MOST of the Lego games at 2560x1440, and max settings including Edge smoothing.

I rarely have any stutter for these games.

Also, you said the games were FINE before so I don't know why the games are suddenly suspect. Sounds like a SOFTWARE problem. Possibly video drivers but at this point I don't know what else to suggest except to:

PHYSICALLY REMOVE THE 2nd GPU (if you haven't done so)

Obviously you don't want to stay that way but it's useful for TROUBLESHOOTING.

Yea,.. I really don't want to remove a video card at this time as it really isn't that big of a deal to me .I just wanted to have local co-op games to play. Like I said before,.. EVERY other game I have plays fine and at pretty much at maximum settings. And when I said things were fine in the past what I meant to say was years ago I played the Batman Lego games with just a Q8300 and a single GTX460. Now I have a 5th gen Intel 6 core. Water cooled and 2 GTX760's in SLI configuration and I get the stuttering/lag problem reguardless if I'm in SLI mode.

Has to be the games..... :(

My specs:
Z97 Motherboard
4790K@4.4Ghz synced
16GB DDR@2133
GTX 1080Ti

Lego games briefly freeze and stutter no matter what settings I use. Diagnostics on CPU, RAM and CPU show no issues and there's no evidence of any background processes causing issues:

1. Lego Harry Potter 1-4, 5-8 - frequent pauses event on the intro screen
2. Lego Lord of the rings - brief hiccups
3. Lego Star Wars The Awakening - frequent brief pauses

I thought it might be hyper-threading related but:

Fallout 4, Shadow Warrior 2, Dishonored 2 and Mafia 3 all run perfectly fine.

I have recently disabled EIST and C-STATES in the BIOS and so far I've not witnessed any brief freezes in Lego games since.

I came to the same issue. Games were working fine using medium to high graphics settings. Now the games stuters every few seconds. Tried Lego Jurassic Park and Marvel Heroes. I have a AMD Fx-8320e CPU, 8 Gb RAM, Radeon R5 m230.

For anyone who still has that problem, it was the Oculus rift background services that was doing it for me! Just go to task manager and kill all the oculus programs (may have to unplug the rift), and everything worked perfectly again.

Hey, sorry to bump such an old response, but have you had continued success with these changes? I've never experienced the issue with my i3-4160 based HTPC, but it's recently cropped up on my 4790K/GTX1070 main gamer... would love to fix this as my wife enjoys these types of games.

Edit: For anyone still trying to resolve this problem... the above mentioned fix (disabling EIST and C-states) made no difference for me. I am starting to think it is due to a data streaming issue from the hard disk, as the PC that gave me no trouble ran the game off an SSD and the more get-it-on gaming PC was running it off a mechanical disk. Will update again if this proves to be the issue.
