In my computer I have a ssd as the boot drive and two 2tb hdd running in what should be an Intel raid 1 array. I say should because in the device manager under disk drive it says "Intel Raid 0 Volume SCSI Disk Device". However in disk management I am told the total capacity of those two drives is 1863.01 gb, indicating in my mind that it's a Raid 1 array.

On to my real question, can I remove one of the 2tb drives and have the other drive continue unchanged? I'd like to use one of the drives for external back up rather than have a raid array.

Hi Josh,

A Raid 1, mirroring, will continue to work with 1 drive left.
To answer your question, you can remove the drive and have just one working and your intuition is right...the disk management reveals it is a RAID 1.
