Ok here's the deal.

I have a i7 4790 and I am intending to upgrade my gpu which is a r9 270x. I can afford the GTX 1060 with no fuss. I can also get a GTX 1070 but it's a little impossible with my budget. My monitor is a 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor. I won't use Nvdia DSR so I will be sticking to 1080p.

I am intending to play Assassin's Creed 2017 title. So my question is, Would my extra struggle to buy a gtx 1070 be worth the 1070's performance gain over 1060. Therefore which card should I choose?

Thanks for any help.

Then you got an answer - GTX 1060 or RX 480 should be cards for you. I'd personally pick RX 480 4GB over GTX 1060 3GB, because it is slightly faster in DX12.

1060's are underated if ur not trying to play ultra setting on more demanding game a 1060 should be sufficient and especially since you intend on keeping that 60hz moniter

Depending on the time you plan and the settings expected to use.

Currently the 1060 could be enought on 99% of the games, but if you think in 2-3 years in the future i think that the extra power from the 1070 could guarantee that you could maintain the quality settings in future titles.

I would try to go for a 1070 if you dont plan to change the Gpu again in 2+ years at least or the 1060 if you dont mind to change Gpu in 1-2 years.

as short term it would be a great choice(1-2 years usually but 3 years might do). The 1070 might be a better option for now and later, I predict it to last around 4 or 5 years instead. The choice really depends on price difference between the two cards. If you are going for a gtx 1060, do you know which model yet? likewise with the 1070.

My casing (Silverstone raven 5) won't let me fit an asus strix gtx 1060. *sighs* I settled for the Msi GTX 1060 gaming x. If I get a gtx 1070, I t would be the zotac amp extreme version. It's very ugly.

For 1080p@ultra (not maxed-out at AAA games) details at 60fps --> GTX 1060 or RX 480
GTX 1070 is considered more of a 1440p gaming card, would be an overkill for 60Hz 1080p monitor unless you upgrade in the future to the one that has more Hz or higher resolution.
