Is it safe to skimp on random access memory for laptops?

I have a plan to upgrade my laptop RAM but Corsair seems a bit expensive. is there any major performance difference if I use any generic brands that compatible? the laptop needs DDR3L 1600 Mhz. am I going o regret it? I see Venom RX at very reasonable price.

So I assume it is safe then. I found OCPC brand. it is far less expensive than venom RX, have you heard of the brand? anw. will 8 GB make much more difference when compressing files using winrar?

I'd steer clear of ocpc where did you even find the stuff I only see one suspect site in Canada that sells it. Ocpcs website is FULL of grammar errors and typos if they don't care anymore than that I'd be scared as heck of their products.

Okay then, I might stay away from OCPC. I might as well take GEIL or Kingston RAM.

Yeah, I don't expect my laptop to be powerful. I buy ulv laptop on purpose for battery life or lighter notebook.
I just buy the laptop as a replacement for my pentium t4400 laptop which has 2 GB RAM DDR2. Benchmark shows that i3 5005u is 80% faster than Pentium t4400.
If I wait for another two years. Will DDR3L become more expensive?
