Running on a mATX rig that I put together a few years ago.

i5-3570K
Gigabyte mATX board (don't have model off top of my head)
AMD 7950
8GB RAM
250GB SSD / 1TB HDD
Windows 7 64-bit

I'm mostly playing Grim Dawn nowadays...I'm finding I need to bump the video setting down to get appreciable FPS. It's been a couple years since I put this together, and I'm figuring it's time to update some things.

I'll set an initial budget of $500, but definitely negotiable depending on where this goes. I'm switching back to air cooling and possibly buying a new case, but that is not included in the above budget.

Where will I see the most bang for my buck. Thoughts appreciated!

Thanks!

Your best bet is to upgrade your GPU. If you aren't looking to stream to twitch, you may as well keep using your CPU. After the GPU, add another 8GB RAM.

EDIT: Btw, love your strongbad avatar lol

what he said ^^

i think a 1060 6gb or 480 8gb would be good upgrades. add 8gb ram and youre set! and saved most of your budget

If lowering your settings improves FPS, it is an indicator that your cpu is strong enough for a better graphics card.

7950 is a decent card, so if you upgrade, make it a significant jump or you may be disappointed. I think GTX1060 or better.

Is your i5-3570k overclocked?

I have a Giga-Byte GA-H77N-WIFI board which supports a maximum of 16GB DDR3 SDRAM. I think I will be doing both my GPU and RAM in this upgrade.

EDIT: My i5 is stock speed.
