Hello everyone,
I'm looking for an equivalent fan to replace my mom's old one. Of course her computer is ancient and I've never heard of the fan she hes (or even if it's still being made). What she has now is:

  • 4 Wire 5 Pin Foxconn DC Brushless fan (DC 12 V)
    Model # PVA080G12H-P00
I found 1 listed on Ebay but I really don't like buying on Ebay. Anyone have an idea of what would be a good replacement?

The physical dimensions of that unit are the same as the common "80 mm fan" used for case ventilation. That includes its thickness of 25 mm. The electrical connections are another question. Some references to this type of fan indicate that it is a PWM-type fan (more commonly called today a "4-pin fan", but the wiring at the connector is different from the common arrangement today. If yes, one could simply buy a current model 4-pin fan and re-do the wiring appropriately using the connector from the old fan.

However, the info I found says this was commonly used In Dell Optiplex machines. So, maybe you can buy a replacement from Dell. Was it actually in a...

I share your skepticism of fans from unknown suppliers, eBay or elsewhere. I see some of the items for sale actually are used fans scavenged from old machines. I'd NEVER buy one of those - it could be just as worn out as the one you have.
